Donald Trump is sitting down with Vladimir Putin at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Anchorage, Alaskathe first summit between U.S. and Russian leaders since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. And let me tell you, this meeting isn't just mind-blowingly dangerous, its also a play for trump to try to get a win in a wave of losses.
Trump talks about a ceasefire and dialing back hostilities. But let’s be real, terms like “land swaps,” “peace,” and “give-and-take” are code for “legitimizing territorial grabs.” Russia wants Western recognition of gains in Donetsk and Luhansk. There has been no change of stance from either the Americans or the Russians so what is this really, well, its another distraction, trump hasn't caught a break, bombing Iran, Epstein files, rising inflation. He will do anything to make the media talk about something else, and guess what, its working.
Zelenskyy isn’t on the invite list. No Ukraine. No Europe. Just Trump and Putin. Meanwhile, European leaders are trying desperately to inject some sanity into the process, warning that peace without Ukraine is meaningless.
In two days, a symbolic Cold War play unfolds in Alaska and the world won't forget it. Trump is gambling on peace but with Putin’s terms. The question isn't whether something will get done it’s whether diplomacy or delusion will win. We also can't forget that Trump's overall goal is to shift the media's attention, not actually help Ukraine or Europe with their problems with Russia
